My connection to Lake Superior is deep (this is not news to anyone who knows me), about 1,332 feet deep (a little Gitche Gumee factoid), give or take a few feet depending on the current state of our climate. But that’s a whole ‘nuther conversation for another day.
The Journey, the latest series in my Stories of Color and Light collection, features five watercolor paintings of various sizes mounted on cradled birch panels, two of which are set in stunning handbuilt maple floating frames. This colorful series, the first entry into a series of serieses (ha), chronicles some of the waypoints and the ultimate end point of a personal journey:
- Intention - the conscious decision to embark on a path
- Dedication - the commitment to pursue the goal
- Perseverance - the strength to push through adversity
- Awareness - the personal growth experienced through the journey
- Bloom - the resulting enlightenment
The Journey will be making its debut at the Center for the Visual Arts (CVA) as a part of the Wisconsin Valley Art Association (WVAA) 48th Annual Member/Memorial Art Exhibit.
The exhibit will run from January 8 through February 15, 2025, with a fun and friendly reception (read: snacks and bevvies!) on Friday, January 17, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
Central Wisco friends, hope to see you there!
